In the online world of today, we come across many websites. Some of these website have been built to effectively appeal to the user while some fail to do so. So it is easy to understand that the effectiveness of a website’s design is judged by the user but not by the designer or the owner of the website. There are many factors that play a vital role in defining the effectiveness of a website. And websites that do not have a good and effective design, they tend to suffer in terms of rankings and viewership.
The very first thing that defines the effectiveness of a web design is that whether or not it serves the purpose. As a user you come across many websites but are those websites actually delivering what you are visiting them for. The purpose could be information, news or anything else but the website should be serving a purpose for the user.
Another important element of an effective web design is effective communication. As human beings we like our information to be precise so there are ways to give out information effectively. A good website design would be using headings and subheadings and not displaying irrelevant information that is unnecessary.
Similarly, the typefaces you use and a good selection of colors are also very important in the effectiveness of you web design. You would want your user to be able to read all the information you are providing very easily. And contrasting colors for backgrounds and texts will help increase the appeal of your design.
As a user, you would want to be able to easily use the website. So a good and effective web design will have good navigation. A good design will have bread crumbs integrated in order to increase usability while keeping in mind the three click rule. This rule is very important as it states that a user should be able to access all the information they need in three clicks.
